Selecting flooring- what hotel owners look for
Modern taste and interior design trends allow us to use longer wearing flooring types in hotels, hostels and other paid accommodation, more than we could in the past. Here is a look at some of the more modern options that you can save money with. Homeowners can also benefit from these tips.
Hotel Floor Types: What Should You Choose?
Owner/operators of hotels or paid accommodation who make the right decision with their flooring and installation will save themselves a great amount of money in the long-term. Issues of replacement and maintenance can be very costly. So what should you choose? Hotel flooring needs to be cost effective, and you need to keep it clean – all the time. This article looks at the best types of flooring for hotels, and the issues associated with each.
Carpet
Carpet is still used in many hotels, particularly those looking for luxury. Unfortunately, it is not really the best choice, unless you are prepared to spend the money to make sure it is regularly steam cleaned. Carpet is a hot bed for dust and mites, which is a particularly big issue when you have so much human traffic. Long-lasting carpet will also be rather expensive. On top of that, good underlay, which can often cost as much as the carpet itself, will be essential.
Modern Wooden Flooring
Modern wooden flooring looks and feels like the real thing, is inexpensive, and is very easy to maintain. With traditional wooden flooring, you will have to maintain the floor with wax and a lot of elbow grease. Easy to install, relatively inexpensive and has a range of tones to choose from. Because this type of flooring is rather fashionable and long-lasting, it is highly recommended. It will be easy to clean, and you do not have all the issues related to mites.
Natural Rubber
Natural rubber is actually a great choice for hotel rooms and other high traffic areas. Just make sure you get the colors right. It is easy to clean, naturally stain resistant, very durable, eco-friendly, and although it may look a little industrial, it will look good if you can manage to pull of that modern minimalist style.
Concrete
Polished concrete is very fashionable. A great option for high traffic areas. This might save you a lot compared to the installation of flooring, as you may be able to utilize your building’s foundations. Stamped concrete floors mimic tiles that come in a range of colors and surface types.
Vinyl
Modern vinyl is not the nasty material you remember in your grandmother’s kitchen. This flooring type is relatively inexpensive, easy to maintain, and available in a huge range of colors and surface types. There is even vinyl that mimics slate tiles – it is actually pretty good.
You will always have particular issues related to your hotel. This is more than selecting for just a home. If you choose right, and complement with the right interior design, even the most hard-wearing and industrial looking options, are practical and attractive. Consider traffic levels, noise reduction qualities and always think about safety. Your hotel flooring just has to be anti-slip.

I managed to get to this
I managed to get to this hotel just recently and I was pretty pleased with the services. This hotel really reminded me of one of those Washington PA hotels so I enjoyed the stay very much. I have to admit that 3 out of 4 days I was just visiting on foot and taking pictures of everything because New York is a marvelous city. Also I didn't think that the lobby is cold and uninviting.
