Donate your computer

Every year about 55.4+ million personal computers became obsolete. Where did they go? Many ended up in landfills. These old computers might have benefited students and people who can not afford to buy a new computer. Consider donating your old computer. You will be helping schools, churches, and friends will also do something for the environment. Computers for Schools will get your computer to students, while the National Cristina Foundation will give them to local agencies to help the disadvantaged. Before you donate your computer, make sure to erase your old files from the hard disc. Whatever you do with your PC, don't throw it in the trash. Here are several options:
  1. Dell Exchange also recycles its old computers. -there are 4 options.
  2. Hewlett-Packard either donates computers to nonprofits or breaks down into steel, aluminum, copper, and plastic. They disposes 4.5 million pound of computer waste a month.
  3. Washington Apple Pi Program accepts only old Macs. Whole computers or parts are donated to nonprofits.
  4. Capital PC User Group accepts only PCs via it's Reboot program. Most computers remain in the Washington DC area and some are shopped abroad
If no one wants your computer, consider recycling it. A map of U.S. recycling and donation centers will get you started.
